What is ADHD?

ADHD is a unique brain wiring and way of thinking that comes with both strengths and challenges. Rather than a lack of attention, it involves difficulty in regulating focus, making it easier to concentrate on engaging with some tasks while struggling with others that seem uninteresting.

It is often associated with a highly active and creative mind, but managing impulses and organisation can be challenging. When properly understood and supported, ADHD can be a source of remarkable energy, innovation, and enthusiasm rather than a limitation.

ADDCA Fundamentals of ADHD coaching for families (advanced further training)

I used to work in film/TV design, then as a PA. I have 2 teenage sons; the youngest one, now 14, was diagnosed with ADHD aged 8, and I have been passionate about helping him through school and beyond.

As part of this journey, the realisation that I also have ADHD has been a huge turning point and given me an incredible insight into my own life. Throughout my life, I have always had a feeling of not reaching my full potential.

However, now through my own journey of self-realisation and understanding of how my ADHD has shown up in my life I have gained a new and confident awareness. This has given me the inspiration to engage my natural strengths and skills and redirect them into something I feel truly passionate about which is helping others through ADHD coaching.

I trained at ADDCA, the internationally renowned ADHD coaching academy in New York, earning my AACC certification, and also hold CACP certification from the Professional Association of ADHD Coaches (PAAC). I've completed additional specialist training in children and families coaching and work with adults, young adults, parents and teenagers (15+).

In my spare time, I love Pilates, knitting, bread-making, seeing my friends and hanging out with my family. We spend a lot of time in North Cornwall where you might find me in a wetsuit trying to stay on my surfboard!

About Me

"My coaching sessions with Ruth were truly invaluable. Before starting, I felt isolated and overwhelmed while supporting my son with ADHD. Ruth was so easy to talk to, deeply engaged in every session, and her thoughtful advice made a real difference, bringing more calm and positivity into our family life.
